High Street Glow

High Street Glow

Happy Sunday gang! I hope everyone has had a great weekend. ♥️

Whenever I think about makeup, I think about how to get that glow. I have written a couple of blog posts about different makeup routines trying out different products but this is my every day go-to makeup look.

I have been using these same products now for months and they are all from the high street. As much as I would love to use higher end products, my bank balance just doesn’t stretch that far I am afraid. If you want an affordable glowy makeup routine then here are some incredible products that won’t let you down.

First up, Glow Cherie from L’Oreal Paris. Before I even found this, I was using Bonjour Sunshine Liquid Bronzer by L’Oreal – equally as amazing. Glow Cherie wakes up your skin with a luminous, radiant glow. This hydrating skin enhancer covers imperfections and skin instantly appears healthier and glowing. Sometimes I only wear this!

If I want that extra glowy, dewy look then I put a pump of Glow Cherie mixed with No 7’s Skin Illuminator and Miracle Glow from Max Factor. This combination is flawless. All of these products can be used on their own but I love mixing them together.

The concealer I have been using for years now is L’Oreal’s True Match The One in shade Ivory. The coverage is great and really covers up those dark circles and blemishes.

With four pigmented shades, L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Glow Highlighting Palette is a must have addition to anyone’s makeup bag. The colours in the palette are warming on the skin and give you that radiance.

Let’s talk about Iconic London. I have been using the original illuminating drops for about three years now and I am still obsessed. You only need a tiny bit and you have cheek bones for days.

Finally, 24h Eyeshadow from Bourjois in shade Beige brings the look together. You know those makeup tutorials we all watch with the inner eye highlight? Look no further! Admittedly, this is a new addition to my makeup bag but I am loving it so far.

You can pick these products up anywhere – on the high street, on Amazon and on Ebay brand new. If you want that long lasting glowy look, I can say that I have tried and tested them all and that my daily makeup routine is easy, gorgeous and most importantly affordable. ✨

Pillow Plump XXL

Pillow Plump XXL

Let’s talk lip gloss!

Soap & Glory’s Pillow Plump glosses are ultra-shiny, smoothing and hydrating. Shades ‘Nude in Town’ and ‘Clearvoyant’ are so versatile and can be worn from day to night.

The gloss features LIPSWELL natural flower oil infusion and glassy-shine technology. Additionally it has been formulated with 3XL-PEPTIDE PLUMP and leaves lips feeling fuller.

Shade ‘Nude in Town’ has a nice cocoa smell to it and when applied leaves a classic nude lip look. The lip gloss does make your lips tingle for quite a while and for me, did appear to them look slightly fuller. If you want a distinctive nude colour on your lips then this shade is for you.

Shade ‘Clearvoyant’ leaves the lips looking more natural but still tingles and makes lips appear to be fuller. This shade is perfect over a lipstick for a glossy and hydrated finish.

Apologies for the dressing gown lip close up selfies. Fingers crossed this has been useful if you’re interested in new lip gloss products 🤞🏼These Soap & Glory glosses are beautifully packaged, come in so many different shades and are at an affordable price. Perfect as a gift too! ❤️

Daily Skincare Routine

Daily Skincare Routine

My skincare routine can change quite regularly depending on what I have got going on. If I am going out to an event or to a special occasion I will do a longer skincare routine than this one.

Here is my every day skincare routine.

1. Every morning and every evening I use the Neutrogena Spot Stress Control. I have used this for years and I hardly ever get break outs (unless I have eaten too much chocolate, been wearing too much makeup or it’s the time of the month!) Its exfoliating and it feels great on your skin.

2. After I wash my face in the morning I use NIOD Mastic Must. It is one of the best face masks I have tried and helps to minimise pores. I leave it on for ten minutes.

3. Next step is to moisturise! I use this moisturiser every morning after cleansing my skin. I always use a moisturiser with SPF and Olay’s Firm and Lift has been a firm favourite for a year or two. I let the moisturiser sink in for 5-10 minutes before applying any makeup.

4. I had never tried face oils and then I tried this one from the Natural Spa Factory. It’s 100% rosehip oil and is high in antioxidants, improves firmness and elasticity. It feels dreamy on the skin and I normally apply this in the evenings. I cannot get enough of this product!

That’s my everyday skincare routine guys. All products are affordable and honestly do make such a difference.

Battle of the Blushers

Battle of the Blushers

Having a bit of a blush on your cheeks can make all the difference when you’re not feeling great and you can add that pop of colour.

I have tried lots of different types of blushers – powder, cream, stick, tint. But which is the best?

What I want from my blusher is an all day staying power. I have scored the blushers below out of 5.

Cream Blushers

One of my favourite cream blushers is the NYX Bright Idea Illuminating Stick in Pinkie Dust. It’s a perfect size for your handbag on the go. You apply the stick straight to the cheek and blend it in. It has a highlighting glow to it and the colour is very subtle.

Score 3/5 as I would have to reapply during the day to maintain the colour.

Another favourite cream blusher is Maybelline Dream Touch in colour Plum. This is a great alternative to the NYX and has a similar consistency.

Score 3/5 as I would need to reapply this too.

Powder Blushers

I love a powder blush! In my opinion, it is the easiest way to put on a blusher and you always get an even distribution of colour (unless you apply too much!)

My favourite blush palette is by Boutique at Sainsbury’s in colour True Love. The different shades are beautiful and can be used alone or together to create a gorgeous shade of pink. I use my Anjou blusher brush to apply this to the apples of my cheeks. With regards to staying power, I do find powder blushes don’t last too long unless you are wearing a primer and also use a setting spray.

Score 3/5 with no base or fixing mist and 4/5 with.

Other favourite powder blushers are Maybelline Blush in shade 90 Coral Fever and L’Oréal Le Blush in shade Peach. The same score applies to the one above.

Tints and Liquid Blushers

Cheek tints are a bit of a game changer when it comes to staying power.

I recently purchased Bourjois Healthy Mix Sorbet Blush in shade Raspberry. I apply two drops to a blusher brush and then blend it in carefully. The colour can be built up with more drops. It is a beautiful shade of pink and gives a healthy glow to the skin.

Score 5/5 as it lasts all day and I don’t need to reapply.

Other favourite cheek tints and liquid blushers are Benefit’s Posietint and Daniel Sandler’s Watercolour Liquid Blush in shade So Pretty.

Both score 5/5 for how long they last as no need to reapply to keep the blushed colour.

So who won the battle of the blushers? It would have to be Bourjois and the cheek tint. Honestly for a longer lasting blusher, a cheek tint is what you need guys. 💕

Going Nude

Going Nude

I have always been a nude nails kinda gal. A pink nude, a brown nude or just a plain nothing nude.

Here are some of my favourite nudes for this season.

Revlon 165 Romantique – The pinkest nude of the bunch. Two coats gives a really subtle splash of pink to your nails. Quite hard wearing with a top coat.

Essie Spaghetti Strap – One of the lighter nudes I have tried. Very natural looking with two coats and doesn’t really chip with a top coat.

Essie Touch Up – The darkest nude. Gorgeous deep pink. With two coats it looks quite purple. Long lasting and looks beautiful on.

Anny 500 Opalescent – My absolute favourite nude. It catches the light beautifully. Very long lasting and even when it chips you can’t see it. I can wear this for over two weeks and it still look fresh.

L’Oréal 116 Café De Nuit – The brownest nude. Beautiful beige natural colour and very long lasting with a top coat.

Sally Hansen 220 Café Au Lait – One of the more natural nude colours. Sally Hansen does great quality varnishes and this one is no exception.

All of these nudes are really subtle and last well with no chipping. Definitely a must have for the spring season. 💅🏼

Featured #2

Featured #2

Over the past few months I have connected with some of the most lovely people. People are so friendly, real and honest and it really does feel like a community. It is so nice to find out about other content creators and their stories.

Here are this month’s featured accounts.

Why did you decide to start the account?: I love writing, not to sound too cliche. I like to share my stories, and give the raw stories that some decide not to tell. I like to focus on all aspects of my life and not just all the happier parts. My life has had many ups and downs so its a great way to document those, and also offer some comfort for people who are feeling a bit down in the dumps and know they are not the only ones who are feeling like that. I also love to share my embarrassing stories (there’s a few) and post a bit off fluff to as I don’t want my blog just to be negative. My blog is my outlet, but I also think it’s full of good advice too (or at least that’s what my friends tell me).
Top 3 tips:
1. Be yourself, don’t try and fit in with what you think is popular
2. Write when you feel like writing because that is the truest and rawest stuff and usually the best stuff too
3. It takes time to get where you want to be, so don’t compare how you’re doing to someone else, everything in life happens when it happens.

How long have you been doing this? 2 months
Why did you decide to start the account? I have always loved fashion and putting outfits together made me so excited! I loved that different outfits would match my mood and that fashion gave me confidence to express myself! Just before Christmas I discovered Lorna Luxe on Instagram and fell in love with her style and feed and read her blog with her tips and advice on becoming a blogger/Instagrammer. I felt so inspired and thought if I don’t go for it now I never will. I had lots of stuff I had bought in the sale and that’s how I started! I feel so happy I went for it because I feel like I’m doing something that I have always loved!
Top 3 tips
1. First go for it! Don’t make excuses like I did for years and just do what you love! I know lots of people say the market is saturated and this and that but I fully believe there is a community for everyone who genuinely has a passion!
2. Secondly, engage with people’s content and people who engage on your post all the time ! Its like if somebody on the street commented on your outfit and you didn’t say anything back! So always be kind, grateful and positive and project that to like minded people!

3. Lastly, be yourself and let it come through in your posts! Think about what kind of message you want to send to people engaging with your posts. Be real in a perfectly fake platform!

How long have you been doing this? So I’ve been working with/on social media for a couple of years, my business is mainly on Instagram, but have only taken it full time since September 2018. Then I recently decided to step it up a notch by putting out more content on my IGTV and then deciding to start a YouTube channel!
Why did you decide to start the account? I started this line of work because I just didn’t want to be stuck in a job for the next 40 years. I loved the idea of having freedom and flexibility, and being able to live life on my terms. I found a way to be my own boss and jumped straight in!
Top 3 tips
1. CONSISTENCY! Whether you want to be a blogger, youtuber, or anything else, you need to be consistent. Success never happens over night, it usually takes a long time of working hard behind the scenes before someone takes off. Keep putting out content you love and enjoy the journey!
2. Don’t compare yourself to others. When you’re working online/on social media, it’s easy to start comparing yourself to other people. You have to remember that everyone is on their own journey and everyone has their own struggles, just stay in your lane and be true to yourself.
3. ADD VALUE! Think how you can stand out from the crowd. If you’re looking to impact others and add value, you will develop a loyal following. People will begin to look forward to your content because they are gaining something from it. You will end up building a community of like-minded people who will connect and engage with your content!

How long you have been doing this? I found my passion for Instagram 1 year and a half ago. I fell in love with the platform and the ease with which it allows you to share your experiences and passions with a wide audience. At the beginning of this year I made a conscious decision to up my game by posting quality content daily, investing in an IPhone Xs for better quality pictures and experimenting with my style.
Why did you decide to start the account? I moved to London six years ago, from Barcelona and I’ve found this city to be a constant source of inspiration. I have been able to embrace and cultivate my strong passions for fashion and coffee shops, that I’m compelled to share them with my amazing growing insta family, who inspire me on daily basis with their talent, warmth and generosity of spirit. I’m so thankful for their support, it means the world to me. Moreover, I really enjoy creating content with my fiancé’s help who takes all my pictures and supports me so much with my vision.  We are both creative people( I am a film producer and he is a writer, director and actor) and recently we have opened our own film production company called Reality Break Films.

Top 3 tips: Let your personality shine, you are unique, embrace it and find your own style. Know your audience and engage with them on daily basis. Post content consistently (at least once a day)

How long have you been doing this? I have been doing this for about 4 weeks! So not too long at all.
Why did you decide to start the account? Right now I am a college student at Utah State University going into marketing. I have always loved the advertising and design aspect of marketing, and actually had a really good friend who had begun her instagram influencing journey about a year ago. This fall I ended up reconnecting with her in a marketing class we had together and doing a couple of photo shoots just for fun! At first, I was hesitant to start a new instagram page because I didn’t necessarily want to put myself out there. But as a couple days went by I thought, Why Not?! I love fashion and taking pictures so it seemed like a perfect fit. And honestly it has been so much fun, I am so glad that I began to start blogging.
Top 3 tips
I am obviously no expert having just started a couple weeks ago but I will share the three main things that have helped me grow.
1. Engagement! Make sure to like and comment on other blogger’s posts. That way you will be able to build relationships and connections and they are likely to reciprocate!
2. Consistency! This was a hard one for me, especially at the beginning but it is so important to stay consistent with your posts! Try to post everyday especially while you are trying to grow and post around the same time each day.
3. Hashtags! I have found through experience that it is so important to use relevant hashtags! If you are going into blogging or fashion I could recommend using hashtags that are associated with that. That way you will be included in the community who also uses those hashtags.

Thank you so much to all these lovely ladies for their time. I really appreciate it and I love finding out about the people behind the photos. ❤️

April Skin Care

April Skin Care

I can’t believe it is April already! Is anyone else feeling like that? With the ever changing weather and our fingers crossed for some sun soon, I have found some of my fave skin care products for this month.

First up, let’s talk about the moisturiser. This is something I rediscovered recently and I am so glad I did. It is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s sixth year in partnership with M&S and I am still loving her range of products. The moisturiser is so rich and nourishing for the skin, especially when one minute it’s coat weather and the next the vest tops are coming out. It leaves your skin with a beautiful scent too and is perfect for someone who wants a luxurious, long-lasting moisturiser. Unfortunately, this specific product is discontinued but in store at the moment is her ‘Divine Body Cream’ which is a very similar product and is only £10!

Guys let’s talk about this gold face mask. Oh my goodness! I love a good peel off face mask and have tried so many different ones from charcoal to cucumber. Whilst I have a few more firm faves, this one was gifted to me from friends. Best gift ever! It’s the 24K Gold Deep Cleansing Peel Off Mask and retails for £22 in the UK on the brands website, Gold By Glow. Why gold? Gold is a natural antioxidant, it boosts collagen and stimulates cell renewal. It comes in beautiful packaging and this rather in your face bottle that stands out on the bathroom shelf. The pump can sometimes get a bit gunked up so regular cleaning of it is recommended. Hello glowing skin!

Finally, Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Mask. I don’t even have words. Whilst it is the most expensive face mask I have ever tried retailing at £62 for 4 masks, it is an absolute game changer. It is applied like any other sheet mask for 10-15 minutes and then you just rub in the excess product after. Your skin instantly looks flawless, glowing and feels nourished and smooth. It brightens up dull skin and you can really see it. It’s definitely one I like to use for special occasions given the price tag but a must try! Trust me!

*No paid partnerships…I wish!*

Love Is In The Hair

Love Is In The Hair

Whether it’s simple metallic bobby pins or worded barrettes, these accessories can make or break an outfit.Hair clips, clasps, bobby pins and more have been around for a few seasons now but the trend seemed to explode when the New Year hit.

Here’s what I have found so far all between £0-15. Swarovski clips and some glittery slides from Accessorize, diamanté grips and metallic bobby pins and hair slides from Boots which I like to use a lot of layered up, leopard print and tortoise shell clips from Superdrug and a statement cherry design clip from ASOS. 🍒

If you’re looking to buy some beautiful vintage style hair clips, then get on eBay. They have some gorgeous statement hair accessories for bargain prices. I have two on the way for under £3 with postage. Urban Outfitters and Topshop also have a great variety but they are a little more pricey.

Putting in a hair clip seems like an easy task but it’s all about the placement. At the moment I have slightly shorter hair than I would normally have and I find it isn’t as easy to position. However, practice makes perfect.

Size Matters

Minis. Let’s talk about them. Who else takes all the minis with them when they check out of a hotel? I have a whole bag full of the most divine minis from L’Occitane and just can’t bring myself to use them unless it’s for a weekend away or a little holiday somewhere.

I was gifted a L’Occitane advent calendar a few years ago and boy was I missing out before. The products are beautiful and there is such a variety I couldn’t believe it.

Here are some of my favourite products from L’Occitane.

From moisturisers to shower gels and hand creams to perfumes, the collection in the advent calendar is one of the best I have seen in beauty and skin care advent calendars.

Perfumes: Néroli & Orchidée, Terre de Lumière, Verbena and Arlésienne. I bought full bottles of  Arlésienne and Néroli & Orchidée which I originally purchased as my wedding fragrance. All the perfumes are very different and I would definitely recommend L’Occitane if anyone wanted to try a new scent. The bottles are so convenient to take on  nights out, on a date to freshen up and just to keep in your handbag.

Other faves are the Comforting Cream, Immortelle Cleansing Oil, Essential Water, Ultra Rich Lotion, Shower Cream, Milk Concentrate with Almond Milk and Relaxing Shower Gel. The Divine Youth Oil was another favourite but I used it all up.

Even though they are minis, they go a long way. L’Occitane products are high quality and are some of the best higher end skin care products I have used. I know December is a few months away yet but keep your eyes peeled for their new sets this year.

No Makeup Makeup

No Makeup Makeup

On my no makeup days I wanted to share with you guys what I use to get that no makeup makeup look. It’s only four products and it’s the perfect look for the warmer weather and when you just can’t be bothered to do a full face (which is me every day really!)

Maybelline Face Studio Illuminating Primer

Maybelline New York Master Blush – shade Heat

L’Oreal True Match Concealer – shade Ivory

L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature – 110 shade I Empower

Before I apply any make up I always use a moisturiser with SPF and then I put on a primer. Primer is an absolute must if you stand a chance of your makeup lasting all day. There are so many different primers out there and Maybelline have a huge range of them depending on what finish you want. Check out Maybelline’s range on their website.

Concealer is something I always carry with me. L’Oreal’s True Match is one of my favourite high street concealers. I always buy a concealer that is a few shades lighter than my skin colour. I apply it in a triangle under the eye and in any places where there is redness or a blemish. Instantly makes you look more awake before you have had your morning coffee.

I really liked this pinky shade of blush by Maybelline for a no makeup look to add a pop of colour. It brightens up your complexion and again, makes you look a bit more alive in those mornings when you want to hit that snooze button.

Finally, my favourite product I have found so far this month is the L’Oreal Paris Rouge Signature lip colour in shade I Empower. I saw Lydia Millen review this on her YouTube channel and just had to get it. It feels amazing and soft when applied and has good staying power. There is a range of beautiful shades so check them out on the L’Oreal website.

All of these products are super affordable, new in stock and are must haves for the spring. Again, all these recommendations are not ads with brands.
